Z--Hurricane Sandy Repair of Upper Magurrewock Dam

The US Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 5, has a requirement to repair the approximate 50 foot wide breach in the 7-foot high embankment dam, and excavate a new emergency spillway. The dam repairs will enable the dam to safely pass the inflow design flood, the 100-year rainfall event, without over-topping. The total excavation is approximately 5,000 CY of soil and rock/boulder. Suitable excavated materials will be used to raise the existing embankment dam height approximately 2.6 feet along most of the 1900-foot long dam. In addition, the existing 1-foot wide concrete walls of the outlet (service spillway) will be raised 1.6 feet to match the increased dam height. A new walkway over the service spillway will also be installed. A 10-foot wide articulated concrete block mat will be placed across the new emergency spillway to provide one lane vehicle access to the dam. This contract opportunity is a total set aside for small business concerns. The NAICS code is 237990. The small business size standard is $33.5 million. The estimated magnitude of construction for this project is between $250,000 to $500,000. Registration is required on the System for Award Management (SAM online at www.sam.gov) website.
