RECOVERY--A--PROJECT NUMBER 4201S, Evaluation of competitive technologies associated with a DDG 51 Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) system proof of concept demonstration

This notice is provided for informational purposes only. The project will be partially funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, project 4201S. The proposed action will be to award a $150,000 modification to contract N00024-10-C-4212 for evaluation of competitive technologies associated with a DDG 51 Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) system proof of concept demonstration. HED is aimed at improving the operating efficiency of the engineering plant on DDG 51 Class Ships and is intended to demonstrate the capability for significant fuel savings. This supports the national defense imperative to reduce dependence on foreign non-renewable energy resources. The contractor is BMT Syntek Technologies, 4301 N Fairfax Drive Suite 330, Arlington, VA 22203. The contract was competitively procured under a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). Due to the nature of the effort being research and development in new technologies, use of the cost plus fixed fee contract is appropriate.
