**Notice was modified to reflect the correct Point of Contact (POC) information. This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The Military Sealift Command (MSC) intends to negotiate an extension under contract N00033-02-C-3201 on a sole source basis with Maersk Lines Limited. The sole source extension is needed for the operation and maintenance of eight (8) Watson class Large, Medium-Speed Roll-On/Roll-Off (LMSR) vessels. It is anticipated that this extension will be needed for a nine month period. The nine month extension will consist of two option periods: Option period One from April 1, 2008-September 30, 2008 (approximately 6 months) and Option period Two from October 1, 2008-December 31, 2008 (approximately 3 months). The current contract N00033-02-C-3201 expires on March 31, 2008, therefore a follow-on sole source extension is needed in order to bridge the gap between the existing contract and the commencement performance under the new contract for the re-procurement of the eight (8) LMSR vessels (Solicitation N00033-07-R-3200). The proposed contract action is for supplies and services for which the Government intends to negotiate with Maersk Lines Limited under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 (a)(2)(iii), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements) and FAR 6.302-1, Unusual and compelling urgency). Pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 (a)(2)(iii), the services are deemed to be available only from one source for a follow-on contract for the continued provision of highly specialized services.
