S--Ocean Cargo Transportation Support.

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico intends to negotiate a sole source contract under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1. Only one responsible source has been identified, Horizon Lines, LLC, 4064 Colony RD Site 200, Charlotte, NC 28211-3487. The following service has been identified under the intend contract: Transportation services in support of hospital patient care and operation services of the medical center patient care mission. Services include cargo consolidation, documentation and shipment of container provided by the VA Cargo Consolidation Point at Operation New Hope warehouse in Hillsborough, NJ to Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands in accordance with Uniform Tender or Rates and/or Charges for Transportation services. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes; however, information of firms capable to perform the aforementioned services received by Dec 13, 2011, 9:00 AM Puerto Rico time will be provided to the VA Transportation & Logistic Center, 810 Vermont Ave. NW, Washington DC, 20420 for evaluated and qualification. A determination for not to competing this procurement is based on authority of VA Transportation & Logistic Center to qualified responsible firm capable to perform the services.
