17 -- Omaha Mail Consolidation Center

The purpose of this notice is to announce that the United States Postal Service will be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to contract the management and operation of mail sorting and handling activities at the Omaha Mail Consolidation Center (MCC). This facility provides a terminal link for the continued on-time delivery of mail routed through the postal surface network. The supplier will be responsible for loading and unloading of mail or freight, mail drayage, mail sorting, maintenance and repair of terminal handling equipment, and upkeep of the facilities as specified through the statement of work. The supplier will be responsible for providing a secure facility with adequate workspace and operational loading dock bays sufficient to accommodate daily operations. The facility or workspace platform must be capable of accommodating the loading and unloading of trailers up to 53 feet long and between 48 to 52 inches in height from the ground to trailer bed. The RFP will contain the operational specifications for determining facility preferred location, size and operating plans. It is anticipated that the solicitations will be posted within the next 30 days.
