NASA/KSC has a requirement to host the inaugural Lunabotics Mining Competition,Friday, May 21, 2010, through Wednesday, June 2, 2010. The NASA Exploration SystemsMission Directorate Higher Education Project in partnership with the National Space GrantCollege and Fellowship Program has designated NASA KSC Florida as the site for the event. NASA/KSC intends to utilize the following KSC facilities to host the event due to theirproximity: KSC Visitor Complex, KSC U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, and KSC Apollo/Saturn VCenter. NASA/KSC intends to contract directly with DNC Parks & Resorts at KSC, Inc., forthe use of the above facilities. All facilities are operated exclusively by DNC Parks &Resorts at KSC, Inc., under a concession agreement with KSC.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interestedorganizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort inwriting to

Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the Government.
