Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, FY 2012 - Capacity Building Development grants

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awards funds to nonprofit organizations to provide training and educational programs for workers and/or employers. Nonprofit organizations, including qualifying labor unions, community-based and faith-based organizations and employer associations, that are not an agency of a state or local government, are eligible to apply. Additionally, state or local government-supported institutions of higher education are eligible to apply in accordance with 29 CFR Part 95. Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace, and to inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act. The notice announces the availability of approximately $1.1 million for Susan Harwood Training Program Capacity Building Developmental grants. Evaluation preference will be given to organizations that have recently successfully completed an occupational safety and health training pilot grant. One example of an occupational safety and health pilot program would be a Capacity Building Pilot grant satisfactorily completed under the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program.
