87 - Certified Weed Free Hay

Sources Sought Notice for Certified Weed-Free Hay: The USDA Forest Service, Procurement & Property Services (PPS), is conducting market research to determine interest in providing certified weed-free hay within the Bend, Madras and Prineville Oregon area. The need for weed-free hay will be on an annual basis in the fall/winter dependent on the number of wild horses captured and removed each year. We estimate a ton of certified weed-free hay needed per 10 wild horses each month they are cared for. Starting in the fall of 2022, we plan to capture up to 50 horses and care for them for an estimated month so at a minimum, we are looking for 5-6 tons of certified weed-free hay. This workload is estimated to remain the same for the next 5 years and then decrease to a need of 1-2 tons of certified weed-free hay annually. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition is 111940 Hay Farming. Size Standard: $2.25 Million.
