S--SOURCES SOUGHT REQUEST FOR INFORMATION MARKET RESEARCH for a Natural Gas Supply Contract for Various Natural Gas Accounts/Facilities situated at Naval Air Station, Fallon, Nevada.

NAVFAC SW is pursuing information on cost-saving opportunities in its natural gas procurement at NAS Fallon. To reduce costs, the Navy is considering the purchase of natural gas supply from a discretionary supplier licensed by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (NVPUC), while maintaining transport service provided by Southwest Gas. The purpose of this RFI is to collect information from discretionary suppliers regarding their ability and interest to sell natural gas supplies to the Navy at NAS Fallon at a cost discount relative to current costs, while minimizing delivery risks. NATURAL GAS DISCRETIONARY SERVICE as defined in in Nevada Administrative Code 704.516 – 704.528: In 1985, the Nevada Legislature passed legislation permitting the selling of natural gas as a discretionary service in Nevada. Consequently, industrial and large commercial consumers of natural gas have been able to choose their supplier. The local utility charges these customers for transporting gas from the interstate pipeline interconnection to the customers delivery point.
