THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS ONLY. This is NOT a request for quotation and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract/purchase order. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to gain knowledge of commercially available products/services that may be of interest to Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) East. FRC East is performing market research to determine available sources that can provide: This requirement describes the minimum specifications for hydrogen fluoride ion cleaning to remove deeply embedded oxides from cobalt and nickel based super alloys in preparation for braze repair. The HF furnace should sufficiently clean, for braze repair, a combination of 600 each, F404 engine High Pressure and Low Pressure Turbine (HPT and LPT) nozzles segments comprised of but not limited to: Rene 80, Rene 142, Rene N4 and N5 alloys. The turbine nozzle segments are arranged as double vane assemblies with a typical size of 3x5x6 inches and a weight of 750 grams. Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) furnace cleaning is used as a pre-braze process to remove offending metallic oxides from high temperature cobalt and nickel based alloys. The process involves fluoride-ion chemistry to remove embedded oxides of titanium, aluminum and chrome, through the use of HF gas. The intent of this effort is to provide a thoroughly clean oxide free part including the parts surface and penetrating cracks sufficient to allow the filling of cracks and voids with a diffusion braze material by capillary action during a later vacuum furnace operation constituting an active diffusion healing (ADH) of the cracked areas.
