The purpose of this synopsis is to notify industry that a Sole Source Fixed Price Contract is intended to be awarded to U.S. Armor Corporation under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. The U.S. Border Patrol Laredo Sector has a need for outer ballistic carrier vests for their body armor. Customs and Border Protection’s Use of Force Center of Excellence (UFCE) division requires that carriers be manufactured by the same company as the ballistic panels (i.e. US Armor with US Armor). Use of other manufacturers’ carriers violates the warranty of our armor and can be potentially hazardous as the panels may not seat properly in the carrier thus affecting ballistic coverage.
