The US Forest Service (USFS) has an on-going need for adequate types and quantities of Water Enhancer (Gels) for Wildland Fire Management to accomplish fire management activities safely, efficiently, and effectively (Forest Service Manual 5160.2). To accomplish this, the USFS has an established testing and approval procedure for testing products proposed to be used by the USFS and its Federal cooperators during wildland fire management operations. Products submitted under the established Qualification Requirement (QR) must meet Forest Service Specification 5100-306a with amendments. The current specification for Water Enhancers (Gels) can be found on the Wildland Fire Chemical Systems website at www.fs.fed.us/rm/fire/wfcs/documents/306a.pdf. The Forest Service regularly reviews and updates this specification. Suppliers and users are invited to provide written suggestions that may improve this document and the products evaluated in accordance with it. Suggestions should be specific and include the section or paragraph reference and explain the basis and type of anticipated improvement in the performance of the product. All suggestions will be acknowledged and considered. Suggestions may be sent by email or hard copy through the Post Office.
