65--Hydropac AWS-2500 Pouch Machine

The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (CNVAMC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Hydropac/Lab Products, 742 Sussex Avenue, PO Box 639, Seaford, DE 19973 for the hydropac AWS-2500 Pouch Machine, a rodent watering system developed and produced by Lab Products, Inc., of Seaford , Delaware. The system consists of a proprietary one-way, disposable water valve that is attached to an FDA approved food-grade water filled pouch that will provide fresh, high-quality water to rodents for up to two weeks in small portable packs that can be easily transported to other areas within the research department to including other VA Research Departments. The system allows the water to be hyperchlorinated, medicated or acidified either automatically or manually. When fully implemented, water bottles will only be necessary for "special requirement" use. This system is intended for inclusion in the CNVAMC's Disaster Plan and rodent research program. It has been approved and recommended by Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC). The CNVAMC believes that this requirement can be met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation will be issued.
