Notice of Intent to Sole Source - North Star Imaging NSI X5000 225kV Micro-focus/450kV Meso-focus Computed Tomography System

NASA/Kennedy Space Center (KSC) has a requirement for an NSI X5000 225kV Micro-focus/450kV Meso-focus Computed Tomography System. This procurement will provide the NE-L7 with added capability through the acquisition of a digital radiography/computed tomography system. The X5000 will be able to produce a 3D volumetric model of an item under test by utilizing x-ray tubes (225kV or 450kV) along with a digital detector and associated computer hardware/software. NASA/KSC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the equipment from North Star Imaging, Inc. North Star Imaging, Inc. is the manufacturer of and only source available to provide the X5000 and there are no authorized resellers. Procuring a different system from another vendor would cause compatibility issues with existing imaging equipment from North Star Imaging, Inc. which is already in use in the lab. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to [email protected] not later than 4:30PM EST on July 26, 2023. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
