UT-Battelle, LLC, acting under its Prime Contract No. DE-AC05-00OR22725 with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the management and operation of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), is seeking commercialization partners for its Ultrasonic Assisted Personal Care technology. The ORNL Technology Transfer Office will accept license applications through June 28, 2018. Researchers at ORNL have developed an innovative ultrasonic drying technology using low-energy piezoelectric transducers to produce high-frequency vibrations to mechanically remove water from a variety of materials quickly and three times more efficiently than thermal drying. This particular implementation of the technology is applied to handheld personal care devices to remove moisture or atomize liquids. The technology utilizes ultrasound transducers to create a high frequency mechanical oscillation on the surface of the article subjected to drying or atomizing. More information can be found at this ORNL Technology Transfer webpage . License applications will be evaluated based on prospective partners' ability and commitment to successfully commercialize the technology, with a preference for United States-based businesses and small businesses.
