99 -- Materials and Services to support construction of Digital Talking Book Prototypes

This FedBizOpps special notice is to advise that the government intends to make a sole source open market award modification to Battelle Memorial Institute of Columbus, Ohio. Battelle was awarded a competitive delivery order under the General Services Administration (GSA) Professional Engineering Services (PES) contract. The effort is for the support the Library of Congress, National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (BPH), for the design of a system consisting of a portable digital player suitable for the distribution and presentation of digital talking books (DTBs) to blind and physically handicapped readers. Battelle identified in it?s latest proposal, a list of open market items that consist of items, materials and services toward the construction of additional functional prototypes and pre-production prototypes. Items and materials required are tooling modifications for prototypes, custom power supply, texture molds for prototypes, engineering test equipment rental, FDM rapid prototypes, test fixtures, player shipping materials, etc.. Services required include UL certification consultation and telecom services.
