WebOps Storage Solution The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Data Center Operations (CDCO) Falling Waters Information Technology Center (FITC), Capitol Region Data Center (CRDC) Web Operations Group, Falling Waters, West Virginia, operates and maintains the NetApp storage system that is used for backend storage for standalone servers, VMware servers, disk-to-disk backups, and file shares for the VA. During the past four (4) years, upgrades to the Web Operations infrastructure at FITC have not been sufficient to support the complete migration from Silver Spring, Maryland, or to allow the continued growth for the web environment for the VA. An analysis performed by the FITC has determined, in order of importance, what is needed for Web Operations to meet current service level agreements and to be in a position to support future requirements. One gap identified was the storage area network (SAN). The storage system is a key piece of the infrastructure as most of the servers in Web Operations rely on the system for their functionality; however, with the recent increase in VMware hosts, a storage system with sufficient storage capacity is critical in order to maintain functionality of the backup process for disaster recovery. Therefore, the purpose of this acquisition is to procure SAN storage, network equipment, other information technology (IT) equipment and corresponding maintenance/warranty support to increase the existing storage. If this acquisition is not completed, CDCO will not be able to support Web Operations for the remainder of FY11 and FY12. At this point, storage is almost all consumed and risk mitigation work is being delayed. This acquisition has been posted on NASA SEWP, RFQ No. 120835. Responses are required to be submitted through the SEWP website on or before September 21, 2011. Pursuant to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Subpart 5.3, Synopses of Contract Awards, Subsection 5.301, General, all contract actions expected to be $25,000 or more shall be reported in the Forecast of Contracting Opportunities (FCO) maintained by the VA Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU). No responses are requested from this FBO posting.
