65--Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source Contract GE LIGHTSPEED Pro 16 CT Scanner - Relocate

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Tacoma, WA intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The VA intends to award a contract to General Electric Healthcare Systems for the purpose of relocating one GE LightSpeed Pro 16 CT Scanner from the first floor to the second floor of building 81 at American Lake, Tacoma, WA. The vendor will test, de-install, remove, relocate, re-install, and calibrate one GE LightSpeed Pro 16 CT Scanner. General Electric Healthcare is the service vendor for this CT Scanner and provides all maintenance and service, including moves. General Electric Healthcare provides unique knowledge of the equipment; no other company makes this model of scanner or provides replacement parts and service. A justification for other than full and open competition is prepared in support of this acquisition. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Applicable NAICS code is 541519.
