99--Human Blood Product ProcurementNotice of Intent to Award Sole Source

Synopsis: The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louis A. Johnson VAMC intends to negotiate solely with American Red Cross to acquire its monthly services of supplying human blood products exclusively for routine and emergent requirements. The American Red Cross Greater Alleghenies Region is the only known source for the required human blood products located located within a 100 mile radius of the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center that is able to provide services on an emergent basis. This procurement will be conducted under authority of FAR 6.302.1 Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). It is anticipated that a Firm Fixed Price purchase order will be awarded. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. All interested parties must respond within ten (10) calendar days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating your firms capability to provide these services described above. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to announcement VA-244-08-RP-0312. If after June 28, 2008, no viable responses have been received in response to this announcement, the VHA shall negotiate solely with The American Red Cross Greater Alleghenies Region.
