Title: Notice of Intent - Time and Cost Extension for USAID Quality Reading Program - Time to Read in the Kyrgyz Republic. USAID/Kyrgyz Republic hereby provides notice of its intention to modify the Contract AID-176-C-16-00004 with Chemonics International in order to extend the period of performance by 12 months to September 30, 2020, and increase the total estimated cost (TEC) by approximately $1.9 million for a new TEC of approximately $9.9 million. Under this proposed modification, the Contractor will provide educators in the Kyrgyz Republic with in-service training in basic education reading instruction; design a developmental reading ladder tool to level books; increase the availability of age-appropriate reading materials in mother-tongue languages, specifically Kyrgyz and Russian; foster Kyrgyz government support for reading through capacity building in the area of reading instruction and use of assessments to monitor reading progress; and create partnerships and innovations that support literacy outcomes. The Contractor will provide preservice training, expand the capacity of local authors to develop appropriate basic education reading materials, and conduct an endline early grade reading assessment.
