The proposed action is for 8 summer interns resulting from the utilization of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities National Intern (HACU) Program in support of the Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, PA and NCTRF, Natick, MA. It is expected that the 8 interns will be employed for the period from 8 June through 15 August 2009. The Government intends to solicit only one source, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). HACU has been determined to be the only source for this Government requirement. HACU is the only known source that, through an existing agreement with DOD, can utilize known workforce information to assist their member institutions in developing and implanting curricula and other career development programs to teach and train students for careers in business, national security, science and technology. Furthermore, HACU provides local housing support based on an evaluation background checks. They have the res! ources in place to research the area to locate housing that is safe and reliable, fully furnished and have laundry facilities available and are from reliable, local individuals that are willing to accept a lease for the 10 week duration of the program. In additional, HACU is the only organization that maintains a ready database of diverse intern resumes immediately available for selection to support summer intern requirements. Interested persons may identify their capability to provide the required summer interns. This is not a request for quotes. Information received as a result of this notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. However all capability information received by the designated time on 20 April 2009 will be co! nsidered by the Government.
