The 38 EIG/PKK intends to procure on a sole source basis local telephone service for Pope AFB NC. The intended contractor is Carolina Telephone & Telegraph CO dba Sprint. The contractor shall continue to provide the existing service. The period of performance shall be 9 months from the current expiration date of 5 May 02 or until the new competitive contract is in-place. The primary place of performance will be Pope AFB NC. This sole source acquisition is justified under 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). A competitive solicitation has been issued but service with Sprint must continue until the new contract is awarded.
