Precise navigation and location data is critically important to military operations. Advances in cognitive information processing technology (i.e., systems that know what they are doing) and context awareness computing (i.e., systems that are able to determine circumstances) present the opportunity for further enhancement when interfaced with location awareness devices. The United States Special Operations Command is interested in receiving white papers or information briefings that describe prospects to develop and demonstrate technologies for: (1) next generation, embedded location awareness devices (e.g., miniaturized Inertial Navigation Systems)either functioning autonomously or tightly coupled with GPS; (2) the interface of location awareness devices with cognitive tools or context aware computing applications.
