Description
Project work includes construction of a beach berm along approximately 7,000 feet of shoreline immediately south of Fort Pierce Inlet between Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Range Monuments R-34 and T-41. Beach compatible sand for the project will be dredged from Capron Shoal, located approximately four miles southeast of the project site in state waters. Due to the extensive hardbottom areas located offshore of the fill area, offshore pipeline access to the beach site is prohibited. Offloading the beach fill will be done inside the South Jetty of Fort Pierce Inlet, as shown on the plans. A staging area and beach access to the beach placement area are located at the end of Seaway Drive and near the south jetty offloading area. Work also includes but is not limited to environmental species monitoring, sea turtle trawling (hopper dredges only), turbidity monitoring, beach tilling, beach fill quality control, screening, MEC construction support, and vibration control and monitoring. The project work is subdivided into a base and one option as indicated on the drawings.
