The US Fish and Wildlife Service Region 3, Division of Construction and Acquistion at Fort Snelling, MN, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, intends to procure on a sole-source basis with Fondriest Environmental, Inc., located in Beavercreek, OH 45432 following equipment with a 30 day delivery. The SonTek River Surveyor M9 is manufactured and distributed solely by SonTek/YSI, Division of YSI Inc., of San Diego, CA and Fondriest Environment of Beavercreek, OH is the only local sales representative authorized by SonTek. The 9 beam Doppler profiler is the most sophisticated unit on the market and is easily interfaced with geo-referencing GPS equipment hardware. All related software and hardware are developed and manufactured by SonTek/YSI for exclusive use with these systems. SonTek/YSI is a sole manufacturer and distributor of this type of 9 beam Doppler profiling equipment. The SonTek equipment will enable the Alpena FWCO to collect accurate profile and discharge data of a fluvial system. This data is essential in the restoration and management of habitat and native species. For the reasons listed above, we intend to sole source the purchase of the SonTek River Surveyor from their authorized dealer Fondriest Environment.
