The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ventura Fish and Wildlife Service, Ventura, California has a requirement to procure services for the study in the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander with Elkhorn Slough Foundation, Dr. D'Amore is an amphibian ecologist that has extensive experience with the long toed salamanders and will examine the utility of using fish exclusion in shallow reaches of four heavily invaded freshwater wetlands in order to allow salamander breeding to occur. The freshwater sites are McClusky Slough, Smudowski Slough and Moro Cojo Slough all located in Monterey County and Merck Pond in Santa Cruz County. The amphibian ecologist must hold a section 10(a)(1)(A) permit (recovery permit) and must be current. This permits authorizes take of the Federally endangered and State fully protected Santa Cruz long-toed salamander. This project will be on a timeline to install exclusions and results.
