70 -- 70 - land-based CD-ROMS and updates to Notice to Mariner National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Charts

AMENDMENT 1 TO PRESOLICITATION NOTICE The USCG's intent is to sole-source the requirement for commercial navigation charts to Maptech, Inc., which is authorized to approve commercial raster navigation charts (RNCs) that provide electronic chart information for the shore commands using C2PC(CG) as the chart display engine, through its exclusive agreement with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA is the official US hydrographic office that collects the data required for RNCs. Maptech is the only vendor authorized by NOAA to provide corrected electronic charts with approved updating services a result of this exclusive agreement with NOAA for technology development; in addition, Maptech, Inc. has agreements with the hydrographic offices responsible for chart data in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. No other vendor is permitted to provide the official hydrographic electronic chart data required.
