Sole Source Notification for Stryker-Brand Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) located in Fort Collins, CO intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Stryker Medical (previously Physio-Control, Inc.) located in Redmond, WA for 45 (each) automated external defibrillators (AEDs) with American Heart Association Training. Product # 50999-000243 -- Heart Safe Wrap Around 1-Yr – AHA training (10 per building) USDA APHIS has approximately 125 Medtronic/Physio Control AEDs located at over 100 facilities, and over 800 employees are trained to use the equipment. According to the Federal Occupational Health’s Public Access Defibrillation Guidelines, the use of a single brand of AED within a facility greatly simplifies the training, maintenance and data management required for the AED. Due to the national management of the APHIS AED program, the same advantages apply jointly to all APHIS facilities and contributes to renewed safety because employees only need to be trained on one device yet, if necessary, can use the devices in any location. A one-time purchase order of $52,643.25 is anticipated with Stryker (DUNS 009251992). The pricing is considered fair and reasonable based on comparison to other brand AEDs, and USDA APHIS is being offered a discount from commercial list pricing. This is not a request for quote, and no formal solicitation will be issued. This notice is for informational purposes only.
