83--Improved Knitted Fabrics for Sweater, Mid-Weight Underwear, and Related Garements

SOURCES SOUGHT: Product Manager-Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-SCIE) and Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) are seeking available knitted fabrics for use in the manufacture of a sweater, mid-weight undershirt, and related garments. The fabric key performance parameters (KPP) are: (1) no melt, no drip; (2) weight 6-11 oz/sq. yd.; (3) minimum burst 90 pound; (4) thickness 0.06-0.08 inches; (5) air permeability 145 min. cu. ft/min/sq. ft.; and (6) low power stretch, length 30-80 percent and width 70-120 percent. Lightweight to medium weight fabrics that meet the KPPs shall all include information on dimensional stability, moisture vapor transmission, thermal resistance, resistance to pilling, drying time, and general pricing per yard. Typical fibers for consideration are wool, wool blends, treated natural fibers, treated natural fiber blends, synthetics, and synthetic blends. Interested firms shall provide fabric technical data, Material Safety Data Sheets, and one 8x10 inch fabric sample. Sources sought notice is subject to Berry Amendment 10 U.S.C 2533a.
