NASA/GRC has a requirement for the service, repair, and parts for an existing VeecoOrgano-Metallic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (OMVPE) reactor.NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Veeco Process Equipment, Inc., 394 ElizabethAve., Somerset, NJ 0887-5118. Veeco is the manufacturer and is the only company toservice, repair, and supply parts for the reactor as stated in their warranty.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. The Sole Source is under the authority of FAR reference 13.106-1(b)1.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon February 8, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.
