Q--LTAC Requirement

The Government intends to award a contract to Kindred Hospitals, located at 705 Juniper Street, NE, Atlanta, GA, for Long term Acute Care (LTAC). Due to the nature of this requirement, limited providers, and the limited capacity in the Atlanta area this approach is viewed as the most expedient way to establish services for the Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC) Veteran population. Our intent is to establish a referral contract with LTAC facilities within 25 miles of the VAMC that would include providing services for: ventilator weaning, IV antibiotics, tracheostomy, intensive wound management, and decannulation/pulmonary rehabilitative care. It is anticipated that approximately 6 to 12 patients a year will require services from one to six months. Individuals requiring care beyond this point will be returned to the VAMC.
