The Refuge requires a fuel efficient shallow draft river jet boat capable of transporting a minimum of six people or 1500 lbs. of equipment and an operator to remote research camps located up and down the Kuskokwim River and its tributaries, safely in adverse weather conditions. Performance Criteria Specifically this boat needs to be constructed such that it can operate in less than 4 inches of water when on step and capable of crossing logs, beaver dams, sand and small gravel bars without sustaining significant damage. Additionally the boat must be extremely maneuverable for very tight cornering and able to come to a full stop in the shortest possible distance for safety purposes.
